If you've been picking baby up at every wake, try soothing in the crib first. Pat the mattress, shush, or place a hand on their chest. Escalate only if needed.
Your action steps
- Respond in the crib for 2–3 minutes before picking up.
- Use a consistent verbal cue.
- Put baby down as soon as they calm.
