You can't fix what you can't see. For one full day, write down every wake time, nap start/end, bedtime, and night waking. Patterns — overtiredness, undertiredness, hidden feeds — will jump out.

  • Note how baby fell asleep for each nap and bedtime.
  • Look for one thing that surprised you.
